This song traces its origins back to around 1980, when Dan’s family lived briefly in Alaska while his father worked in log building. At about seven years old, Dan began writing the tune on guitar at the church his family attended in Big Lake. An early version of the refrain referenced John, the prophet of Revelation, but Dan’s father pointed out that the scenes of the two men in a field and the two women at the mill were actually described by Jesus Himself. Years later, when producing the song, Dan revised the lyrics to give proper credit to the Lord.
Drawing from Jesus’ teachings about the last days, “It’ll All Come Out” reflects on the reality that God’s truth will ultimately be revealed. The song presents familiar biblical images of people unexpectedly separated as prophetic events unfold.
Bible Comprehension Point: In Matthew 24, Jesus describes two men in a field and two women grinding at a mill, saying that one will be “taken” and the other left. In the verses immediately preceding, Jesus compares these events to Noah’s Flood, where the flood “took” people away in judgment. This context suggests that being “taken” may not refer to a rapture, but rather to experiencing judgment, much like the flood victims in Noah’s day.
