Dan is a songwriter shaped by a life lived across America — from the Pacific Northwest where he grew up, through Montana and Texas, to his current home in Western Michigan. Music and faith have run deep in his family for generations, and both threads found their way into Dan early on. At around six years old, his dad Terry put a ukulele in his hands, tuned to the bottom four strings of a guitar — a small instrument that quietly laid the groundwork for a bigger one down the road. He explored piano and trumpet along the way, but songwriting was always the thread that held. From a young age, Dan was also drawn to the possibilities of making music with computers, a curiosity that continues to shape his creative process today.
Away from music, Dan is a caregiver for two immediate family members — a role that grounds everything else he does. He’s a former National Merit Semifinalist with a background in radio and TV production, bringing a craftsman’s ear for editing and sound to his work as an artist.
The Heartfelt Digital Ensemble (referred to as Heartfelt Digital Artistry or HDA on some releases) is the human-designed and guided use of artificial intelligence, along with other means of production and sometimes natural elements, to create high-quality, natural sounding and/or appearing media. That media is primarily human-sourced.
